Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need to make Nufiala work for you:

• Profile information — your first name, school level (JHS or SHS), and form year. You provide this during onboarding.
• Email address — only if you choose to sign in. We never require it to use the app.
• Conversations — the questions you ask Nufiala and the responses you receive. These are logged to help us understand how students use the app and improve the experience.
• Usage data — how many questions you ask per day, so we can apply daily limits fairly.
• Device information — basic browser and device type, for technical debugging only.

We do not collect your school name, parent information, grades, or any payment details.

• To personalise your learning experience — greeting you by name and tailoring answers to your level.
• To enforce daily question limits fairly across all users.
• To understand which topics students find confusing, so we can improve Nufiala's responses.
• To send you sign-in codes when you authenticate by email.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Nufiala uses the following services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Clerk — handles authentication (sign-in with Google or email). Clerk processes your email address and manages your login session. Clerk Privacy Policy
• Google Gemini — the AI model that generates answers to your questions. Your questions are sent to Google's servers to generate responses. Google Privacy Policy
• Supabase — our database, hosted in the EU. Your profile and conversation logs are stored here. Supabase Privacy Policy
• PostHog — analytics to understand how students use the app (page views, feature usage). No personally identifiable information is shared. PostHog Privacy Policy

Your profile and conversation data is stored on Supabase servers located in the EU. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and row-level security so only you can access your own data.

If you do not sign in, your profile is stored only in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.

Nufiala is designed for students aged 12 and above (JHS 1 through SHS 3). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 12. If you believe a child under 12 has created an account, please contact us at hello@nufiala.app and we will delete it promptly.

You have the right to:

• Access your data — contact us and we will tell you what we hold.
• Correct your data — update your name and level in the Profile tab at any time.
• Delete your data — go to Profile → Account → Delete my account. This permanently removes your profile, conversation history, and Clerk account. It cannot be undone.
• Export your data — email us at hello@nufiala.app and we will send you a copy within 30 days.

We use browser local storage to save your profile on your device without requiring sign-in. We use cookies only for session management when you are signed in (managed by Clerk). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will notify signed-in users by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
